The Next Step Voyager Program is a term-by-term initiative designed to support young neurodiverse individuals (ages 8-13) in developing essential social, recreational, and community participation skills. Running in Footscray (April 2025), Macedon Ranges, and Werribee (July 2025), this small-group program provides a structured yet engaging environment where participants can build confidence, independence, and meaningful connections.

Next Step Voyager is thoughtfully structured into three unique activities per week, ensuring a well-rounded and enjoyable experience:

  • Next Step Voyager Create – A hands-on craft session that encourages creativity, fine motor skills, and self-expression.

  • Next Step Voyager Feast – A fun and interactive cooking and baking experience where participants learn kitchen skills, teamwork, and the joy of preparing and sharing food.

  • Next Step Voyager Move – A variety of movement-based activities designed to promote physical well-being, coordination, and social engagement in an active and playful way.

More than just a developmental program, Next Step Voyager plays a vital role in creating opportunities for those who may not have access to traditional NDIS-funded supports. Through our not-for-profit, Linking the Next Step Inc., this program helps raise sponsorship funds for participants who fall outside the eligibility criteria for the Bridging the Gap Program, a specialised S.L.E.S. initiative designed to support young neurodiverse adults transitioning into employment or further education.

Recognising the gap in available support, we established the Next Step Voyager Program alongside our school holiday initiative, Next Step Adventurers, to ensure no young person is left without the resources they need to succeed. By fostering essential life skills in a supportive and engaging setting, we empower neurodiverse youth to confidently navigate their next steps, whether in school, social settings, or future career paths.
